Recognition Server and virtual Machines

  • ABBYY recommends to install the “Server Manager” component on a real, physical machine, because all scanned, loaded images are centrally stored and sent to processing, indexing or correction.
  • Licences are only installed/activated on the Server Manager.
  • All other stations of Recognition Server (Processing Station, Scan, Indexing) require a license to be installed. The Server Manager counts all concurrent connections form the active stations.
  • To avoid problems by “playing” with the VM (stop, standby, reset) ABBYY does not allow virtual machines, because:
    • processing of open, queued job files might cause problems when the VM is set to standby or just restarted on a saved snapshot.
    • also “resetting” the page count by using an old snapshot should be avoided.
